FCT, Abuja - The Federal Government has decided to prolong the complimentary train rides for passengers until Sunday, January 7, 2024.
The Nigerian Railway Corporation initially introduced the cost-free train service on Thursday, December 21, 2023, following President Bola Tinubu's directive.

Over 163,000 Nigerians have benefited from the initial phase of the Yuletide initiative.
In a further display of concern for the citizens' well-being, President Tinubu has instructed extending the complimentary train service for an additional three days.
This extension applies to all three existing routes operated by the Nigerian Railway Corporation: Lagos – Ibadan, Warri - Itakpe, and Abuja – Kaduna.

Tinubu approves appointment of new directors for NPA, NIMASA
In another report, the president's office has made major appointments in the federal marine and blue economy ministry.
On Thursday, January 4, the presidency confirmed that President Tinubu had approved the appointment of six directors in two agencies under the ministry.
These ministries include the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) and the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA).
TUC presents 10 new demands before Tinubu
Meanwhile, the Trade Union Congress (TUC) has said citizens are still waiting to experience the 'Renewed Hope' agenda of the Bola Tinubu administration.
The TUC asserted that workers' hopes had been dampened in the face of the current economic reality.
The TUC issued a 10-point demand from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in a statement.
