He lost a close buddy to suicide in 1994. Furthermore, the actor’s career was abruptly halted in 2001 after a CAT scan revealed he had an acoustic neuroma, a type of brain cancer. Odette’s father’s tumor was successfully removed just weeks after the birth of his eldest son, Keen. Despite the successful surgery, Ruffalo lost hearing in his left ear and had half of his face paralyzed.
He lost several Hollywood roles as a result of his paralysis. The Endgame star even ceased communicating with the outside world. Fortunately, after a year away from the spotlight, the paralysis in his face subsided. However, he is still deaf in his left ear.

The Hulk endured another another tragedy in 2008. In December of same year, authorities discovered his brother, Scott’s, death at his home with a gunshot wound to the head. Scott, Odette’s uncle, died in the hospital the next week. Despite this, the authorities have yet to solve the case. In an interview with Men’s Journal in 2013, Ruffalo discussed his brother and said “You never get over it; you simply adjust.”
