On February 17, 2023, Jacob Vanzant was last seen at the Shangri La Asian Bistro & Sushi Bar. Jacob was last seen in a dark hoodie, dark pants, and black boots. At the time, Jacob was driving a Honda Pilot with the license plate 5JBC311. Vanzant is believed to have gone missing after ordering takeout for his long-term partner.
On April 15, 2023, a volunteer team of divers discovered Vanzant. After locating a vehicle submerged in a slough in San Joaquin County, they recovered Jacob’s bones. The investigative team also feels that the car crash was an accident because Jacob’s car was discovered towards the end of a road that, if not watched carefully, leads into the water.
