The co-owner of the renowned Atlanta nightclub Republic Lounge was assassinated early on February 4, 2023, in front of his place of business.
The deceased was identified by the Fulton County Medical Examiner’s Office as Michael Gidewon, who ran the West Midtown tavern with his brother. On Saturday, Fox 5 Atlanta reported.
Zone 5 officers responded to reports of a shooting at the club at 990 Brady Ave. NW at 6:55 a.m., according to Atlanta police.
When police came, they found Gidewon, 50, unconscious and suffering from a gunshot wound. He was recognized as having passed away at the spot.
The department’s Homicide Unit is investigating the shooting. As of Saturday, no suspects had been apprehended, and a reason was not yet clear.
