Keith Hunter Jesperson was born on April 6, 1955, in Chilliwack, British Columbia, Canada. He is 68 years old as of 2023, according to his birth date, and he was born under the sign of Aries. Following in his parents’ footsteps, he was born to Leslie Jesperson and Gladys Wilson. He was raised with four siblings: two brothers and two sisters. He moved around the country, frequently for extended periods of time, and utilized his job as a cover for his crimes. Jesperson’s job as a truck driver enabled him to move around the country and evade detection while carrying out his murders.

As a Murderer

Between 1990 and 1995, Jesperson conducted a string of murders, killing at least eight women. He has, however, claimed culpability for up to 160 murders.

Jesperson was dubbed “The Happy Face Killer” because of the smiling face insignia he drew on letters he delivered to the media and law enforcement organizations claiming credit for his crimes. He was apprehended in March 1995 after murdering his last victim, Angela Subrize, and leaving a note confessing to the crime in a truck stop restroom in California.

Jesperson sentenced to life in prison

For his actions, Jesperson was sentenced to life in jail without the chance of parole. In 1998, he was convicted of murder in Oregon for the death of Taunja Bennett and sentenced to life in prison.

He was eventually extradited to California, where he pled guilty to the murder of Julie Ann Winningham and was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of release.

In addition, detectives have linked him to many other murders around the United States, however no charges or convictions for these crimes have been filed against him. Jesperson has claimed responsibility for up to 160 murders in conversations with police enforcement and in his own writings, albeit many of these claims have not been proven.
