Chess runs deep in Anna Cramling’s family, with both parents having played up to grandmaster levels.

Her mother, Pia, is a former female grandmaster, and her father, Juan, is a five-time Spanish chess champion.

By age 10, Anna had earned her first FIDE rating by competing at Gibraltar Chess Festival’s Amateur A competition.

However, it was at age 12 that Anna made strides with over a 300-point increase to bring her rating beyond 1900 within two months.

And since then, she has continued to excel, participating in notable competitions such as the Masters competition and also participating in both the European Youth Chess Championships and World Junior Chess Championships.

Further, her hard work paid off when she received Woman FIDE Master (WFM) title at just age 16 and following further impressive performances, she added 200 points, achieving a career-best rating of 2175 through different tournaments.

In addition, Anna represented Sweden alongside her mother, Pia, against some fierce competition from around the globe in the 2022 Chess Olympiad.
